Rad and I found each other in Kettering England (where I was working) in 2011. We fell madly in love and were blessed enough to be married on April 6th of 2013. For those of you who know us, there is no doubt that we are meant to be together. The plan was for me to move to the UK August 1st so that we could be near Rads 5 year old daughter who is the light of his life. Unfortunately the UK Government has denied my Visa (last year they passed laws making it almost impossible to immigrate to the UK). Honestly, we had no idea that this was even possible and we are crushed (the British term is “gutted”). To add insult to injury, now that I have been denied a visa, my passport has been flagged so that I am banned from visiting the UK at all as they are afraid that I will try to stay illegally. The first visa application alone was $2000 and to appeal will cost $3000 more and take at least a year (so we are already looking at a year minimum to be able to be together). The attorney says there is a chance that we could win the appeal on what they call a “human rights issue” as we are moving there for the sake of the benefit of Rad’s daughter. It’s a long shot but if we don’t appeal it will be at least another 2-3 years minimum and another $2000 to reapply (and another $3k to appeal if we are denied again). In the midst of all that it is $1300 for each plane ticket for me to attend the hearing (if they allow me there) or to even just be able to see each other (if we can afford it he can come to LA for Christmas). The good news is if you are rich and have $100k in a savings account (long term) you are exempt so if you just donate that amount, we are set lol!
My husband said it best in a text that he sent me after we found out the visa was denied. It said, “I will wait for all eternity to be with you. I’ve waited all my life so far”. My sentiments exactly. We will do whatever it takes to be together and to do it the right way, even if it takes a lifetime.
